Austin Foss is a Democratic member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 44. He assumed office on December 1, 2024, and his current term will end on December 1, 2028.​

Born and raised in North Dakota, Austin has a deep-rooted connection to the state. He pursued higher education at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Architecture. During his time at NDSU, Austin demonstrated a strong commitment to his studies and actively engaged in initiatives that bridged academic learning with practical application.​

Professionally, Austin has cultivated a diverse career that combines architecture, entrepreneurship, and community involvement. After completing his graduate studies in 2017, he moved to Minneapolis to work for a firm specializing in affordable multi-family housing. In 2019, Austin returned to Fargo and continued working remotely for the same firm for an additional four years. In 2020, he co-founded Pops & Bejou Games, a board game publishing company, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. In 2023, Austin joined ICON Architectural Group, focusing on designing educational facilities, further contributing to the architectural landscape of North Dakota.​

Austin’s commitment to public service is evident through his active participation in local organizations. He joined the Fargo Downtown Neighborhood Association and became its Chair in 2022, demonstrating his dedication to enhancing the vibrancy and livability of Fargo’s downtown area. His involvement in the American Institute of Architects further underscores his commitment to the architectural profession and community development.​

In the North Dakota House of Representatives, Austin serves on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Finance and Taxation Committee. These assignments allow him to leverage his expertise in architecture and business to influence policies related to energy, natural resources, fiscal management, and economic development. Austin’s legislative priorities include advocating for affordable housing, modernizing education, and promoting environmental sustainability. He believes in fostering collaboration across the political spectrum to enact legislation that benefits all North Dakotans.​

Austin resides in Fargo with his husband, Ryan, where they are actively involved in the community. His personal experiences and professional background equip him with a unique perspective to address the diverse needs of his constituents in District 44.
