Biography

Brendan P. Crighton is a member of the Massachusetts Senate, representing the 3rd Essex District. He was sworn into office on March 7, 2018. A resident of Lynn, Massachusetts, he was elected as a Democrat. Prior to his tenure in the Senate, Crighton served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and as a Lynn city councillor. He was the only candidate in the 2018 special election to succeed Thomas McGee, who resigned as State Senator for the Third Essex District. He was elected to the Senate on March 6, 2018.

In addition to his political career, Crighton has an educational background from Colby College, where he earned a B.A. in Government in 2005, and from Suffolk University, where he received a Masters Degree in Public Administration in 2009. His professional journey includes serving in the office of State Senator Thomas McGee from 2005 to 2015, and as a Lynn City Councilor-At-Large from 2014 to 2016, and as Ward 5 Lynn City Councilor from 2010 to 2014. He is currently serving as a State Senator for the 3rd Essex District since 2018. His dedication to public service is evident in his extensive career in the Massachusetts legislature.
