Michelee Crawford, a member of the Democratic Party, serves in the Nevada State Senate representing District 1. She assumed office on November 6, 2024, and her current term is set to conclude on November 8, 2028.
Born and raised in Nevada, Michelee Crawford, often referred to as “Shelly,” has dedicated her life to public service and education. Before her tenure in the State Senate, she served as a member of the Nevada Board of Regents, representing District 8. Her career in education spans decades, during which she worked as a teacher and later as a school principal. Her passion for education is evident in her advocacy for equitable access to quality education for all students in Nevada.
Crawford’s academic journey reflects her commitment to learning and leadership. She earned an associate degree in psychology from the College of Southern Nevada in 2000, followed by a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in 2004 and 2010, respectively. Additionally, she holds a bachelor’s degree in teaching English as a second language from Sierra Nevada College. Her educational background has equipped her with the tools to address the diverse needs of her constituents effectively.
Beyond her professional achievements, Michelee Crawford has a distinguished record of service in the U.S. Air National Guard. Her roles included serving as an Equal Opportunity Officer and a Public Affairs Officer, showcasing her dedication to fostering inclusivity and effective communication.
